Session Title: Hybrid Intelligent System Techniques for Bioinformatics and Biomedicine Session Co-Chairs: Dr. Lei He* and Dr. Ashraf Saad** * Information Technology, Armstrong Atlantic State University and Visiting Scientist, National Institutes of Health (NIH) ** Computer Science, Armstrong Atlantic State University Information technology grants a noteworthy impetus to modern biology and medicine progress, which continues to be a vibrant research area with broadening of computational techniques and new emerging challenges. As the boundaries of various disciplines continue to melt away when scientists participate in the interdisciplinary activities that serve society at large, the current techniques in bioinformatics reach deep into problems in biology, medicine, energy, and the environment. The Information Technology for Bioinformatics (ITB) session in HIS 2010 is to promote the application of computational systems and information technologies to the biology and medicine field. Areas of interest for this session are those dealing with the application of hybrid intelligent soft computing techniques to areas of import to bioinformatics and biomedicine in general, including but not limited to: genome analysis, RNA and DNA structure and sequence analysis, evolution and phylogenetics, biostatistics, microarray analysis, protein modeling, bio-ontologies + semantics, image processing in medicine and biological sciences, biological data management and data mining, machine learning and pattern recognition, software tools for computational biology and bioinformatics, and other aspects and applications relating to technological advancements in medicine and biological sciences. Papers should be submitted via the official conference web site: http://www.mirlabs.org/his10/cfs.html. Contact Information: Dr. Ashraf Saad and Dr. Lei He
